YS – Tape Delay LoFi

🎶 YS dropped Tape Delay Lofi, a free tape delay plugin for Windows and macOS digital audio workstations!

🎛️ Five main controls: input/output knobs for drive and saturation, a mix knob for that perfect blend, feedback for controlled chaos, and delay time/width for precision. Time range: 100ms to 1000ms, no host sync, but easy tempo matching.

Inspired by classics like Space Echo, Tape Delay Lofi features up to five tape heads. 🔄

YS also presents their take on the Curve Bender EQ by Chandler. 🎚️ A fantastic emulation with four bands, toggle between left/right and mid/side equalization. No audible saturation, but perfect for broad boost and cuts.

🖥️ Requires a Windows or Mac computer. Mac binaries work fine, but I can’t confirm bridging in Bitwig.

There are plenty of free synths with subtractive or wavetable capabilities, but shockingly few that dive into FM synthesis. Mensla has added its own take on FM synthesis with the release of MS-2, a three-operator FM synth packed with controls and features.

The three operators have selectable waveforms, moving past just general sinusoidal oscillator waveforms. This lends a little more flexibility, and some of the more complex waveforms can give the illusion of a few more operators to play with, particularly the square and saw waves.

Features:

A trio of effects and an arpeggiator rounds out MS-2’s interface.

The delay, reverb, and distortion all suit the timbres you’ll produce in MS-2, and the arpeggiator is rather flexible, with a good deal of parameters to control it.

The filter has the option of utilizing its own LFO as well as ADSR for modulation purposes.
