Repair Order

Work from broad physical problems to narrow software repair: mute unused regions, remove low rumble, fix hum, automate breaths, then use denoise only where the noise remains obvious.

Always keep an untouched duplicate track. If the repaired take starts sounding watery, phasey or dull, blend back the original or re-record instead of forcing the algorithm harder.

Use automation instead of one static setting across the whole performance. A noisy intro, whispered bridge and loud hook usually need different thresholds and different amounts of repair.

After cleanup, listen in the full mix. Some noise disappears behind drums and instruments, while over-cleaning can make the vocal feel detached from the room. If the noise is hidden in context, leave more natural tone. Print a repaired copy and keep the raw take archived so future edits can restart from the source without re-recording.
