Aberrant DSP Lair 1.5 Adds New Reverb Modes and Linux Support

Aberrant DSP Lair 1.5 Adds New Reverb Modes and Linux Support

Aberrant DSP has officially launched version 1.5 of its eccentric sound design processor, bringing massive engine improvements to the aberrant dsp lair reverb plugin. Existing owners can grab the update for free directly through the developer portal, while new users can purchase it across all major operating systems. The update introduces two experimental reverb engines, parallel processing capabilities, and native Linux compatibility.

Expanding the Sonic Canvas with Cascade and Swarm

Unlike traditional algorithmic reverbs built purely for realistic room simulation, Lair is engineered for dark, unstable, and otherworldly soundscapes. Version 1.5 expands on this character by introducing two additional processing engines alongside the original algorithms:

  • Cascade: An echo cluster algorithm where delay distribution can be contorted. Producers can cluster reflections forward or backward in time, use tiers to determine echo quantity, and employ expansion controls to spread reflections out across the stereo field.
  • Swarm: A granular-style cloud processor that dissolves incoming audio into fragmented repeats. Key controls include density for the generation rate of new grains, speed for their velocity, and lifespan to shape granular tail length and decay.

Parallel Routing and Dynamic Gating

Beyond the fresh algorithms, Lair 1.5 introduces a flexible parallel device mode. Users can now load two independent devices side by side, balancing their output with dedicated mix and stereo spread parameters. This workflow makes it straightforward to blend diffuse textures with rhythmic repeats without losing clarity.

Dynamic control is also upgraded through a built-in gate actuated by the dry input signal. Featuring an adjustable release time, the gate allows producers to carve out tight rhythmic spaces or forge classic gated reverb textures without auxiliary routing. The release also ships with 37 custom presets, expanding the factory bank to 115 ready-to-use sounds.

Native Linux Compatibility and Formats

Cross-platform flexibility has received a significant boost with the inclusion of native Linux binaries. The plugin now integrates smoothly across modern production workflows on macOS, Windows, and Linux distributions, offering full compatibility in VST3, AU, and AAX formats.

The Aberrant DSP Lair reverb plugin version 1.5 is a free update for all existing license holders. New licenses are available directly from the developer for $36.
