Reason Studios has released Reason Free, a free plugin version of its legendary virtual Rack that runs natively in VST3, AU, and AAX formats on Windows and macOS. The plugin brings the full Reason Rack workflow — cables, routing, and modular patching — into any host DAW without requiring a Reason license.
Reason Free includes 15 devices covering synthesis, effects, and MIDI generation. Synths include Europa (wavetable), Monotone (monophonic analog), and PX7 (FM). Effects range from RV7000 MkII reverb and The Echo delay to Scream 4 distortion and MClass compressor/equalizer. MIDI tools feature the Dual Arpeggiator and Note Echo. All devices are fully functional with no time limits or feature restrictions.
The plugin supports unlimited Rack instances per project and allows saving/loading Combinator patches. Presets from the full Reason version are compatible.
