What is a MIDI pack and how is it different from a sample pack?

A MIDI pack contains .mid files — digital instructions that tell instruments which notes to play, at what velocity, and for how long. Unlike audio sample packs (WAV files), MIDI carries no sound of its own. You load a MIDI file into your DAW, assign any virtual instrument to it, and the notes play through that instrument. This means you can change the sound, key, tempo, or individual notes freely — making MIDI packs far more flexible than audio samples for composition and arrangement.

How do I use a MIDI pack in my DAW?

Download and extract the MIDI pack, then drag a .mid file directly onto a MIDI or instrument track in your DAW (FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Reaper, etc.). The notes will populate the piano roll or clip. Assign a VST instrument — piano, synth, strings, or any plugin — to hear the pattern with your chosen sound. You can transpose to a different key, adjust the tempo to match your project BPM, and edit individual notes to suit your arrangement.

Can I edit the MIDI notes after importing?

Yes — that is the primary advantage of MIDI. Once imported into your DAW, every note is fully editable in the piano roll. You can change pitch, velocity, duration, and timing for any note. You can also transpose the entire pattern to a different key, add or remove notes, quantize timing, and layer multiple MIDI patterns together.
