Sonic Collective Nicaraguan Marimba [MULTiFORMAT]

Produced by Splice Creator Class alum Alejandro Vega, this collection of melodic percussion was inspired by the music found on the Pacific Coast of Nicaragua and recorded on location with performances by Nicaraguan musicians Carlos Luis Mejía and Evenor Gonzalez. The pack was conceived with the intention to capture the country's distinct marimbas in their pure form, while also processing them through modular Eurorack gear for electronic experimentalists. Nicaraguan marimbas feature extended tubular resonators unlike other marimbas, that produce harmonics similar to the effect of overdrive. Two instruments were added to the sessions (Guitarrilla and a modified version of an Atabal) to accompany and demonstrate the Son Nica rhythm. The sounds in this collection were recorded with a pair of Oktava MK-012-01 microphones through an Apogee Element 24 and processed through Eurorack modules (Morphagene, Prism and uClouds), Cecilia 5 and GRM Tools.
