Specifically in EDM, sidechaining is a core concept that is very important in almost every single genre and style. This is because powerful, prominent drums are a crucial part of EDM, and sidechaining allows your drums to cut through the other sounds in your mix.
Join Nasko in this tutorial as he demonstrates how sidechaining can be achieved in FL Studio. There are several ways you can do this including sidechain compression, volume automation, and more. Nasko will start by setting up a sidechain bus that utilizes the Fruity Limiter to apply sidechain compression.
Later in the video he will use different sidechaining methods that allow his drums to punch through – such as using a ghost kick to control the compression, as well as volume automation using Fruity Balance.
