If you don't have the included BMIDI_Driver_2.1.0.44 driver installed well, the standalone will hang for 20 or 30 seconds until it starts up. To avoid this at install, just make the driver is installed and running. It is also advice to disable the driver in the Device Manager, devmgmt.msc, when not in use.
