Music Hackspace Synthesis with Max: Granular by Phelan Kane [TUTORiAL]

Construct granular synthesis devices in Max from MSP oscillator objects, add modulation sources and explore the spectral and timbral character of the technique alongside its strengths and limits. Granular synthesis in Max/MSP is the subject here, building granular oscillators through MSP oscillator objects and constructing the modulation sources that animate them. The session explores granular's spectral and sonic properties and characterises the timbre, strengths and weaknesses of the technique, so learners can patch and shape their own granular instruments.
