voidDSP has released Echo1, a free modulated stereo delay plugin that packs a surprising amount of depth for a freebie.
Feature overview
Echo1 has two independent delay lines with a sync option — already a good start. But it goes further with onboard modulation, reverb, and a stereo auto-panner.
Delay engine
- Two independent delay lines (left and right)
- Tempo-sync option
- Separate Dry and Wet knobs
Modulation
- Phaser + Chorus — Rate and Depth controls
- Makes the delays evolve and breathe rather than repeat statically
Integrated reverb
- Size control for room ambience
- Adds space without needing a separate reverb plugin in the chain
Auto-panner
- Tempo-synced with 4 selectable speeds
- Width control for subtle mono-compatible placement or full stereo sweep
Filter module
- Hi-cut and Lo-cut filters
- Useful for cleaning up low-end mud or taming harsh high-frequency echoes
Extras
- 4 built-in presets
- Individual module bypass buttons
- Clean resizable interface
The plugin sounds best on arpeggiated synths and guitars, where the modulation and panning really come alive.
Compatibility
- Format: VST3, AU (AAX coming soon)
- macOS: 13+ (Intel + Apple Silicon)
- Windows: 8 / 10 x64 (VST3)
