Trim Utility: Free Gain Staging Plugin by VanDeYacht Audio
Indie developer VanDeYacht Audio has released Trim, a free trim utility plugin designed for ultra-precise gain-staging and stereo bus management. Available for macOS and Windows, the tool provides clean gain adjustment down to 0.001 dB increments alongside dedicated Mid/Side processing. You can download the software directly without any registration or license manager.
Surgical Gain and Stereo Routing
While most digital audio workstations include a basic stock utility, Trim delivers deeper control over dynamic levels and channel balance. The plugin allows engineers to adjust levels in left/right or mid/side configurations, making it equally effective for track-level correction and mastering chains.
Key features include:
- Ultra-fine gain control adjustable in 0.001 dB steps
- Dual routing modes: Stereo (Left/Right) and Mid/Side
- Integrated short-term loudness monitoring and stereo balance metering
- Independent channel phase inversion, mute, and solo controls
- Clean, resizable user interface optimized for high-DPI displays
Workflow and System Compatibility
Proper gain-staging forms the foundation of any clean mixdown, and Trim removes guesswork by pairing level trimming with integrated loudness metering. Its Mid/Side mode lets producers tame wide ambient reverb tails or boost centered vocal presence without setting up complex routing matrices.
Trim runs on macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon) and Windows systems in 64-bit VST3 and AU formats. The plugin is royalty-free and can be used on commercial releases.
