Your previous failure is a combination of a permissions thing and Knif/PA failing to listen to Microsoft's best practices. Technically, Microsoft is on point FAR, FAR, FAAAAAAAAR more than the general public thinks and accepts. It is all the other aspects OUTSIDE of technical about them that are wrong. Not tech, in almost ALL cases. Disabling as per above is a "normal" initial step of setting up a new Windows, regardless if it will be used for audio or never audio at all.
