Distant Animals Dichotomies [WAV]

'Dichotomies' explores the sonic terrain between fundamentally disparate sources. Incorporating acoustic materials - metal, wood, skin, water - and manipulating them with digital processing, the result is a pack of sounds that feels both organic and alien, intimate and foreign. Recordings of djembes, woodblocks, guiros, and prayer bowls become the basis for glitched percussion, wavetable synthesis, and digital resonators, all processed through a selection of analogue compressors, pre-amps, and spring reverb. Field recordings taken from sources as diverse as the gates of an Italian church, a plastic dinosaur, and the hum of a Hebridean ferry. These are treated to those same analogue processes, creating rich and esoteric sound worlds. All of these sounds are further complimented by a range of 8-bit basses, leads and percussion, offsetting the warmth of analogue reverb against the coldness of the bit-reduced digital domain. Suitable for a diverse range both electronic and acoustic genres, this pack is bound to have something for everybody.
