The Fine Art of Whistling While many people enjoy whistling as a pastime, achieving a professional, record-ready sound with stability and consistency across all keys and ranges is a rare and challenging skill – truly an art form. To celebrate this mastery, we invited an art whistler to our Silent Stage. This relatively dry recording room provided the ideal backdrop, allowing his smooth and consistent timbre to unfold beautifully. Whistling is incredibly versatile and has added the perfect finishing touch to countless iconic melodies that have resonated with listeners worldwide. Whether you're scoring the main theme of your neo-spaghetti western or always look on the bright side of life, this collection is here to whistle right along with you. Overview A virtuoso whistler for your DAW Surprising melodic variety The most difficult whistling techniques readily available Unprocessed and reverberated options to suit any production needs Expertly crafted mixer presets The Artful Whistler Meet the Vienna Whistler: the truly fascinating sounds in this collection were performed by our very own Marcus Schmidinger, an acclaimed horn player who is also a gifted art whistler. During the recordings for various horn and brass libraries, we discovered his talent and his incredibly homogenous timbre over a wide key range of approximately two octaves. As an aside, so-called “art whistlers” echo an Austrian tradition of the 19th century when they would perform in Viennese community theatres, vaudeville shows and cabarets. Impressive Articulations Anyone who has tried to whistle once might have noticed that an accurate performance is not easy at all – let alone performing incredible articulations, such as notes with and without vibrato, legatos, portamentos, trills, and even bends and falls. With this collection, this daunting task has become incredibly intuitive and effortless. Ambient Sounds Whistled melodies can be very atmospheric. Using the Synchron Player's reverberation and placement presets you can position the whistler at several spots (left, center, right) in the large hall of our very own scoring stage, Vienna Synchron Stage, with options such as close, classic, and distant. By turning off the internal convolution and algorithmic reverb of the Synchron Player the whistler can be placed in any virtual acoustic environment, from dry closely mic'd settings to large halls, from the authentic natural rooms provided by Vienna MIR Pro 3D to artificial reverb and delay effects.
