Building Foundations: Classical Piano is for anyone wanting to learn how to read sheet music in general (not just classical music). This class will help you gain the skills necessary to read any piece of sheet music including lead sheets of your favorite songs, classical pieces, Christmas music, curriculum books, and more. In this course, you need a basic understanding of the piano itself, but you do not have to have any theory knowledge. We will start at the beginning, with learning to notes on our sheet music. Then we'll progress through reading the symbols on our sheets (dynamics, hand positioning, tempo markings, etc). We'll learn how to read rhythms, counting and playing our songs. And by the end, gain a solid understanding of a music sheet. We'll go even further into theory and learn all of our major scales and major/minor chords, circle of fifths, scale degrees, and more. By the end of this course you will be able to read through sheets, understand what you're playing, and connect it all to a knowledge of theory.
