Moment My Turn A Fern Shy Moment [WAV]

1 min read 197.58 MB
"Isn't it harmonious? Ever sweetened by the reality of dissonance?" Fern Shy is interrogating the politics of sound and music's ability to shape change. The Nashville, TN musician has produced for many a post-genre provocateur: Edward Skeletrix, Devi McCallion, Matt Proxy and; Meat Computer. His 2025 solo album Everything is Pink is about waking up to reality from a dream state, and uses hybrid electronic/acoustic instrumentation to contrast playful energy with dissonant truth. 'My Turn' follows an oeuvre of past free drumkits, which Fern made as a way to "give back to the community [he] fell in love with." It explores the synthetic-meets-organic palette of his recent album with various live recordings, digital synthesis, and kaleidoscopic audio processing. The melodies, drums and; 808s are informed by experimental rap production but play as pieces across the boards of genre and; style. "Something for both of us: A game of life No winners or losers" 161 Samples
