Light presents the voices in their purest form - intimate, breath-filled, and reverent. Dark transforms those same performances through processing, degradation, and reconstruction, creating sounds that feel distant, fractured, and increasingly unnatural. The result is a vocal instrument designed not for traditional performance, but for atmosphere, tension, and emotional weight. Two worlds At the centre of Vestral Voices lies a simple concept: every sound contains its opposite. Move between delicate choral textures and corrupted vocal shadows, layer purity against degradation, and create evolving performances that drift between the sacred and the unsettling - now pushed even further with the onboard granular engine and Movement blending. Light The voices in their purest form - intimate, breath-filled, and reverent. Dark Those same performances transformed through processing, degradation, and reconstruction - distant, fractured, increasingly unnatural. Recorded in St Michael's Church Every source recording was captured inside St Michael's Church, allowing the natural acoustics of the space to become part of the instrument itself. The reflections, resonance, and lingering decay of the church remain embedded within every sample, providing a sense of scale and atmosphere before any additional processing takes place. Sustains, drones, and textures The library is built around three core categories of material. Sustains Held vocal performances rich in breath, movement, and harmonic detail. Available in both Light and Dark variations. Drones Long-form evolving layers designed to create tension, atmosphere, and emotional depth. Textures Reversed, manipulated, and reconstructed vocal performances transformed into sprawling ambiences and tonal soundscapes. Additional samples have been recorded across both the Light and Dark collections, extending the usable pitch range throughout. Built for the update A granular engine for deeper sculpting The same granular engine built for Splintered Violin, opening the Light and Dark performances up to real-time manipulation - grain size, density, detune, pitch, position, and spread, shaped through a full envelope and its own dedicated reverb and delay. What were once fixed recordings become raw material for entirely new, evolving textures. Movement: blending sample and grain A new Movement engine sits between the original sample playback and the granular engine, letting you blend continuously between the two - from the untouched voice recording through to a fully granulated, evolving texture - by hand or driven by the onboard motion control. Brand new convolution IRs A brand new set of impulse responses has been added to the convolution reverb, bringing fresh spaces and responses to the instrument - from intimate rooms to vast, cinematic environments. Brand new presets A whole new set of presets has been built specifically to take advantage of the Movement and granular engines, alongside the existing preset library. Built for transformation Custom reverbs - now including the brand new convolution IRs - provide everything from intimate spaces to vast cinematic environments. Drive and Tone controls introduce warmth, grit, and degradation, while filtering and dynamics processing offer further control over the final character of the sound. The granular engine and Movement system add a further layer of transformation on top, letting you sculpt and blend the Light and Dark performances into entirely new territory.
